Inspired by his grandfather’s F1 viewing sessions, especially by Max Verstappen’s aggressive racing style, Mason’s ambitions are set high. Despite Covid-19 interrupting his early progression, he resumed full throttle post-lockdown, joining the TeamSport Bristol race academy and quickly becoming a formidable competitor.
Currently, Mason competes in both two- and four-stroke kart classes, participating nationally in the fiercely competitive Club 100 Cadet Lightweight Championship. He also races with the Swift Cooper Team in the SRK Championship and dominates locally in the Haynes Junior Championship.
This season marks Mason’s debut in junior karts, where he’s already making a statement. Highlights include winning the SRK Junior Championship round at Herefordshire Raceway and securing first place in the Haynes Junior Championship after double round victories. His strong performances have him sitting comfortably second in the SRK standings.
Adapting to the heftier, more demanding junior karts required Mason to elevate his physical strength and racing skills swiftly. His preparation includes mental visualization of race scenarios and rigorous physical conditioning alongside ongoing martial arts training.
Mason benefits from a seasoned support system comprising the JS Tuition team, Swift Cooper mentors, and coach Miles Wragg, all instrumental in refining his racecraft. Sponsorship from AM Auto Engineering Yeovil and DJ Transport Yeovil plays a critical role, enabling access to top-tier championships, coaching, and equipment.
Looking ahead, Mason’s dreams include joining Formula 1 teams such as Red Bull, McLaren, or Aston Martin. His family remains a pillar of support, attending races, assisting with school, and producing social media content to document his journey.
Outside racing, Mason enjoys football, is pursuing his Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, and values time with friends. Yet, racing remains at the heart of his life, shaping his resilience, focus, and gratitude.
When faced with setbacks, Mason’s determination shines. He views challenges as learning opportunities, always returning to the track with renewed focus and drive. His approach is defined by fairness, control, and an eagerness to improve—qualities setting him apart on the grid.
Mason’s final message for aspiring racers is straightforward: start local, try every opportunity, and stay persistent. As for race day nerves, he simply reminds himself how lucky he is to be living his dream and to savor every moment.
