York Triumph as Stuart Maynard Secures First Win Against Yeovil Town

Stuart Maynard marked the start of his tenure at York City with an impressive 3-1 victory over Yeovil Town at the Glovers' home ground. This win further deepened Yeovil’s early-season woes, as they remain without a manager.

Maynard, formerly the manager of Notts County, took over from Adam Hinshelwood last month. Despite Yeovil’s unbeaten start over four games, Maynard quickly led York to their second win of the campaign.

York opened the scoring when Ollie Pearce confidently converted a penalty in the 26th minute, sending the ball straight down the middle. Ten minutes before halftime, Ollie Banks doubled the lead after a precise assist from Tyrese Sinclair.

Yeovil’s goalkeeper Harrison Male made a costly error with 13 minutes left, allowing Luke McCormick to pull one back for the home side. However, any hopes of a Yeovil comeback were dashed when Jake Wannell inadvertently scored an own goal six minutes later, sealing York’s victory.
