Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley described the recent match as “a tough watch” after Forest Green Rovers ended Yeovil’s unbeaten start with a 2-0 win at home. The visitors took the lead early when Temi Babalola capitalized on too much space in the Yeovil penalty area, firing past keeper Jed Ward just 15 minutes into the game.
Forest Green controlled much of the match, leaving Yeovil struggling to impose their style. Rowley acknowledged his team’s shortcomings, saying, “We were poor with the ball and weren’t brave enough in certain moments. It became too predictable and easy to defend.”
Despite some opportunities, including a disallowed goal by Luke McCormick for a marginal offside call, Yeovil couldn’t break through in the first half. The Glovers showed greater intent after the break, with chances for Harvey Greenslade and McCormick, but defensive errors allowed Forest Green to score a second goal on the hour mark, making a comeback increasingly difficult.

Rowley noted Forest Green’s strength on the wings and acknowledged the challenge they posed. Although Forest Green were reduced to ten men due to a second yellow card for Harvey Bunker in the 65th minute, Yeovil still struggled to create clear scoring opportunities. “The easy shout from the fans is to sign a centre-forward, but I don’t think that’s the problem. We need to create better chances,” said Rowley.
Reflecting on the game, Rowley admitted the team should perform better but praised his players' commitment: “I don’t doubt this group of lads. They give everything.” With a congested festive schedule ahead, the manager remains optimistic and urged his squad to stay focused. “I’m not someone who gets too down on the losses. We’ll take it on the chin,” he said.
Looking ahead, Yeovil prepare to face Truro City on Boxing Day, hoping to bounce back and regain momentum. Rowley emphasized the importance of squad depth, noting, “I know footballers want to play every game. We are going to need all the lads.”
