Yeovil Town’s New Manager Billy Rowley Aims for Football League Return and to Inspire Fans

Billy Rowley has taken the helm as Yeovil Town’s new manager, stepping into a role filled with both challenge and promise. Signing a contract through to the end of the 2027/28 season, Rowley arrives from Walton & Hersham, where his reputation for progressive coaching and talent development has steadily grown.

With a background that includes prestigious academy roles at Chelsea, Fulham, and Millwall, the 43-year-old brings a sharp tactical mind and a focus on nurturing players. Yeovil Town, struggling in 17th place in the National League and enduring an eight-game winless streak, hopes Rowley can inject fresh life into the squad and ignite the passion of their loyal fans.

“It’s a massive community club,” Rowley said upon joining. “When a club like Yeovil calls you up, it’s incredibly hard to turn that down. I’ve heard great things from players who have worn this shirt, and I’m excited to get out on the grass with the lads.”

Rowley is Yeovil’s fourth manager this season, following Mark Cooper, Danny Webb, and interim Richard Dryden. His debut match is set for Saturday at Huish Park against Boston United. He plans to introduce an attacking, free-flowing style of football, replicating the energy and dynamism seen at his previous club.

“My vision is clear: I want football played mainly in the opposition half. Fans want goals, shots, and movement into the box. My goal is to excite this remarkable fanbase and begin turning our fortunes around from day one,” Rowley said.

He also stressed the ambition shared with the club’s owners: a return to the Football League. “This group of players has the potential. The owners are supportive of bringing in new talent, but I believe in giving players clarity, identity, and a blueprint to improve and climb the table,” he added.

Joining Rowley is assistant manager Darren Simpson, also from Walton & Hersham and with a strong academy background at Chelsea. Known for his detailed coaching and player development skills, Simpson will complement Rowley’s approach.

Rowley concluded, “I’m eager to see what Saturday’s game holds. This club has grabbed my heart, and I want the fans to be proud of the team’s energy and spirit. We aim to play with intensity and make Huish Park a daunting place for opponents.”
