Yeovil Town’s Forced Break Offers Valuable Time for Squad Cohesion

Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley is making the most of the team’s recent enforced break to strengthen squad unity ahead of their upcoming FA Trophy match against AFC Telford.

Adverse weather conditions led to the postponement of last weekend’s home fixture against Woking, following a similar fate for their earlier match against Aldershot the previous Tuesday. While such disruptions can be frustrating, Rowley sees this pause as a timely opportunity, particularly with several new players recently added to the squad.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Rowley reflected on the benefits of the break: “Sometimes you have to put a positive spin on things. We had a couple of players carrying knocks before the Aldershot game, so this gave them extra recovery time.”

He continued, “With seven league games played so far, we’ve had a mix of results. Integrating new signings means it’s going to be a process — they’re still getting to know each other’s names. This extra time together was well-timed.”

Looking ahead, Rowley remains optimistic about the remaining 19 games of the season. “We’re seeing progress in training, with great attitudes and dedication from everyone. There will still be ups and downs, but the hard work is evident, and we expect to see many positive moments before the season ends.”

On a personal note, Rowley is still settling into his new role and surroundings since his appointment in November. “I’m still putting together IKEA furniture in the flat nearby,” he joked. “I feel more comfortable now — familiar with the training ground and the people here — though I’m still getting fully settled. Every day feels a little easier.”
