Yeovil Town has unveiled an ambitious new chapter for women’s football in the South West, as the Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust takes the helm of Yeovil Town Women FC. This strategic move promises to boost participation, elevate performance, and deepen community ties, reinforcing a strong commitment to the growth of women’s and girls’ football.
Following recent developments, the club ensures the women’s team remains central to Yeovil Town’s identity while benefiting from the Trust’s dedicated leadership and resources. Jamie Phillip, CEO of Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust, emphasized the significance of this transition: “This is an amazing opportunity for the community to grow strong once again. Though the Women & Girls section is still part of the club, the Community Trust has the capacity to devote full attention, increasing both participation and performance. It’s time to reconnect with the community and truly grow the women’s game.”
Under the Trust’s guidance, Yeovil Town Women have crafted a comprehensive roadmap designed to achieve promotion to the National League by 2028, establish a complete youth development pathway, and secure long-term financial stability. Their vision is clear—to become the premier women’s football club in the South West, rooted deeply in the community, focused on player development, and built on sustainable operations.

Key goals include launching a youth training centre supporting over 120 girls across multiple age groups, introducing an under-19 scholarship program blending education with elite football, increasing annual revenue by 250% through diversified income streams, and engaging more than 500 girls in Somerset through grassroots initiatives.
The club intends to collaborate with 25 local clubs and schools to spot and nurture talent. The new training centre will serve as a hub for structured coaching, competitive matches, and player progression across the county. Additionally, from year two onwards, the under-19 scholarship scheme will integrate football training with further education, alongside maintaining youth teams from under-10 to under-18 levels coached by qualified academy staff.
Financial sustainability will be supported by tiered sponsorship packages, strategic partnerships with local businesses, accessible training centre fees, and grants from organizations like the FA, Sport England, and local authorities. To elevate the club’s profile, a fresh content strategy will showcase player stories, while social media campaigns, school outreach programs, and annual tournaments at Huish Park will enhance engagement throughout the region.
