Yeovil Town’s manager Billy Rowley has called for reflection and improvement following his side’s 3-2 defeat at Southend in the National League, a result that saw them relinquish a two-goal lead in the final half-hour of the match.
The Glovers went into the break ahead thanks to Archie Davies, who opened the scoring. Luke McCormick then extended the advantage just before the hour mark. However, Southend fought back with a fine free-kick from former Swindon player Darren Oldaker, and Leon Chambers-Parillon drew the hosts level with eleven minutes remaining. On-loan Bristol Rovers forward Promise Omochere clinched the decisive goal five minutes from time.
Addressing the players' resilience, Rowley said, “It is heart-breaking, but we did the same to Barrow the other week.”

He added, “We understand one loss isn’t the end of the world. It’s a good chance for us to learn, to review, to improve.”
In National League South action, Weston-super-Mare suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Maidstone. Salisbury secured a 1-1 draw at Chelmsford, taking the lead through Robbie Gallagher before conceding.
The standout performers from the region were Taunton Town, who comfortably defeated Millbrook 4-0. Peacocks' boss Gary Johnson witnessed his team break the deadlock seven minutes after half-time through Ben Seymour. Jamie Richards doubled the tally fifteen minutes later, followed by Phil Mendonca’s third goal and Richards’ second, sealing a convincing victory.
Frome Town also impressed with a 4-2 victory at Falmouth, featuring two goals each from Brendan Holmes and Albie Hopkins. Despite Falmouth’s early lead, Holmes’ brace shifted momentum by halftime, and Hopkins extended the advantage before the Cornish side scored a late consolation.
Slimbridge recorded a 4-1 win at Baffins Milton Rovers. Early goals from Alex Bell and Olly Sully within two minutes put the Swans in control, with Leighton Green and Sully adding to the scoreline in the second half. The hosts scored a late goal.
Other sides progressing to the second qualifying round include Bishop’s Cleeve, Cirencester, and Yate. Yate won 3-0 against Devizes, with Marcus Day scoring twice and Rex Mannings adding another. Bishop’s Cleeve overturned a first-half deficit to beat Poole 2-1, with goals from Reegan Messenger and Charlie Holliday.
Cirencester secured a 3-0 victory over Fleetlands, courtesy of two goals from Jamol Dare and one from Fin Bell.
However, Bath City were eliminated from the competition following a 2-0 home defeat to Weymouth. Two breakaway goals from the visitors ended the hosts' campaign at the earliest stage for the first time in 47 years.
Wells also exited the cup after a 4-0 defeat at Hungerford. Meanwhile, replays will be required in fixtures involving Chippenham and Havant & Waterlooville (1-1), Portishead, Swindon Supermarine, and Gloucester versus Mangotsfield (1-1).
The local clubs will now turn their attention back to their league campaigns, aiming to build on these experiences and improve performances in the coming weeks.
