Yeovil Town Struggles as Fans Left Disappointed After Defeat

Yeovil Town manager Richard Dryden is eager for his team to recover following a tough 2-0 loss to Wealdstone on Tuesday night, marking their fifth consecutive game without a victory.

The evening’s challenging conditions mirrored Yeovil’s performance on the pitch, where second-half goals from Dom Hutchinson and Max Kretzschmar sealed the defeat for the Glovers. Despite some promising defensive work out of possession, Dryden expressed frustration with the team’s inability to maintain control and create meaningful chances.

“Out of possession, we were pretty good,” Dryden explained. “Although we gave them a bit too much time on the ball. In possession, however, we simply weren’t good enough. When we regained possession, as a group, we failed to capitalize.”

He reflected on specific moments in the game, including a debated free-kick on Tahvon Campbell and costly errors leading to the second goal. “That’s not game over, but a 2-0 deficit is tough to overcome. The bigger issue was our performance on the ball once we had it. Too often, the final pass in promising positions was lacking the quality we expect.”

The disappointment extended to the stands, where fans voiced their frustration after the match. Dryden acknowledged their disappointment, admitting the team didn’t provide much to celebrate. “We haven’t given fans much to cheer about—maybe just one shot early in the first half. The crowd started lively in the second half, but we need to offer more reasons to get behind us.”

He concluded by highlighting the mood within the squad: “No one likes losing. The changing room is frustrated, and as both staff and players, we’re determined to bounce back quickly.”
