Yeovil Town Sets Sights on National League Top Tier with Squad Rebuild

Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley has announced the start of an ambitious rebuild, targeting a stronger finish in the National League next season following a 16th place finish this year.

The Glovers concluded the campaign with 51 points, comfortably above relegation danger but a significant 30 points short of playoff contention amidst a highly competitive league that saw record point tallies at both ends of the table.

“Earning 51 points isn’t easy, but it sets us up to push forward,” Rowley said after a 4-1 home loss to Solihull Moors on the final day. “Now, part of my role is to rebuild—bringing in new ideas and fresh talent.”

With safety assured and the season complete, attention quickly turns to reshaping the squad for a more competitive future. “Those leaving the club are aware,” Rowley revealed. “I told them before the game, and I want it on record—I only have positive things to say. Considering I’m the fourth manager to lead this group this season, it’s been a challenging environment.”

Rowley expressed his pride in working for Yeovil Town and emphasized the club’s values. “I’m honoured to be here. We want to put on performances that make our supporters proud. We’ll seek players who fit our playing style, but most importantly, I want individuals who are good human beings.”

The manager is committed to a strategic, well-planned rebuild. “With the season behind us and safety guaranteed, we now have a clean slate to handpick players suited to our style. Pre-season will be crucial to embedding these ideas. Our goal is to build a squad that can compete at the top end of the league. By New Year, I believe we’ll be in a strong position.”

Despite the defeat in the final match, Rowley highlighted the unwavering support of the fans. “We spent time after the game with our supporters. I want to sincerely thank them. Since Darren Simpson and I arrived four months ago, coming to Huish Park gives you a real buzz—it’s a special place, matched by special fans. I’m truly grateful for their support this season.”
