Yeovil Town Secure Crucial 3-2 Victory Over Morecambe for Vital Confidence Boost

Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley expressed immense satisfaction following his team’s hard-fought 3-2 victory against Morecambe at Huish Park, securing vital three points in their battle to climb the table. “I’m really happy for the supporters, the players, and everyone connected with the club," Rowley stated after the final whistle.

The Glovers struck early with a goal from Brett McGavin, who showcased his exceptional ball-striking ability, despite a hint of luck on the finish. Morecambe responded before halftime to level the score. However, second-half goals from James Daly and Ryan Jones put Yeovil ahead by two, demonstrating a blend of skill and determination. A late penalty conceded to Morecambe created tension, but Yeovil held on for the win.

Reflecting on the team’s attacking display, Rowley praised the quality of the goals. “Brett has an unbelievable shot, possibly the best ball striker I’ve seen close up,” he remarked. “Jones is a little wizard on the pitch, and JD Daly is our Swiss army knife — versatile, athletic, and committed to every challenge.”

New signing Delano Mccoy-Spaltt made a positive impact after coming off the bench, impressing with his physicality and skill. Rowley noted, “We’re fortunate to have Delano on loan; he makes football look effortless and brings the perfect balance of strength and technique.”

The late concession of a penalty didn’t bother the manager, who accepted the referee’s decision without complaint. “It’s football — these moments happen, and Brett gave the ball away,” Rowley said.

This victory moves Yeovil seven points clear of the relegation zone, a relief for the club and supporters alike. “After some tough fixtures and hard weeks, it’s nice to get a win that we deserved both on and off the ball,” Rowley acknowledged.

Addressing prior concerns about inconsistency, the manager was pleased with a solid all-around performance. “Both halves deserved at least a six or seven out of ten, which normally gets you a win,” he added. “The message was clear: win the first half, we drew that one; win the second half, and we won the game.”

Yeovil Town now look ahead to an away fixture in London against Wealdstone, aiming to build momentum with another victory.
