Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley expressed his satisfaction after his team delivered a commanding 2-0 win against Tamworth in a well-controlled match at Huish Park. The victory sees Yeovil rise up the league standings, building momentum with back-to-back wins.
From the outset, Rowley sensed the team’s positive energy. “I felt good within the first few minutes of the game,” he said. “Although it was a bit frustrating to only lead 1-0 at halftime, the players executed the game plan well.”
Ryan Jones opened the scoring with a brilliant solo run, slicing through Tamworth’s defense to deliver a precise finish. Rowley praised Jones’ exceptional skill, saying, “He’s a wizard on the ball—his left foot and ability to drive play from the left side make him a truly special player for us.”

Early in the second half, Declan Skura doubled the lead with his first goal for Yeovil. After Brett McGavin’s free kick hit the crossbar, Skura reacted swiftly to slot the ball home. “Dec’s shot was well-controlled on the half-volley,” noted Rowley. “I’ve always believed he’ll become a top centre-back once fully fit and settled, and tonight he showed why.”
Yeovil’s defense also impressed, restricting Tamworth to minimal chances throughout the game. Rowley highlighted the contributions up front, “Players like Brett McGavin, Dakarai Mafico, and Fin Cousin-Dawson worked hard to disrupt their second balls and maintained great organization at the back.”
This win follows an intense victory over Sutton last week, giving Yeovil crucial breathing space in a tight league race. “Every point counts at this stage of the season,” Rowley acknowledged. “While we’re relieved to get these three points, we know the job isn’t done.”
Yeovil will look to carry this momentum forward as they prepare to face play-off hopefuls Scunthorpe United in their third consecutive home fixture.
