Yeovil Town Must Assert Themselves Ahead of Crucial Boston United Clash

Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley has emphasized the importance of his team imposing themselves as they prepare to face Boston United this Saturday in the National League. With only eleven games remaining and the threat of relegation looming, Yeovil cannot afford complacency as they visit a confident Boston side.

Currently sitting 19th in the table, Yeovil have secured two wins from their last five matches but were dealt a heavy 3-0 defeat by Scunthorpe United in their previous outing. Reflecting on that disappointing result, Rowley said, “I’m really frustrated with the outcome, but there were promising signs. We created opportunities in the final third and need to improve our composure around the box.”

In contrast, Boston United, positioned 12th and three points clear of Yeovil, comes into the match buoyed by strong form – losing only once in their last five games, a narrow 1-0 defeat to league leaders Rochdale. Rowley acknowledges Boston’s threat: “They have plenty of energy and pace, particularly in attack, which can cause damage.”

Rowley’s first match as Yeovil manager also saw a win against Boston United, with Luke McCormick scoring twice to secure a 2-1 victory at Huish Park. That performance left a positive impression: “They have a lot of legs and energy upfront, so we need to be prepared.”

In team news, striker Tavhon Campbell has joined Brackley Town on loan for the rest of the season, while loanee Declan Skura has been unexpectedly recalled by his parent club Wycombe, freeing a loan spot. On potential new signings, Rowley remains committed to quality over quantity: “We work tirelessly to strengthen the squad, but we won’t bring in players just for the sake of it. We want individuals who will contribute long-term.”

There is brighter news on the injury front as Ryan Jones has recovered well from a toe injury and is expected to be available. “He’s much better after having it drained,” confirmed Rowley.

Despite some points in hand, Yeovil’s survival is far from guaranteed. Rowley commented, “Mathematically, we’re not safe yet. We need to convert opportunities into points – games in hand don’t count unless you secure the results.”

As Yeovil prepare to travel to Lincolnshire, Rowley expects a tough encounter but remains determined to see his side bounce back from recent setbacks and accumulate vital points in their fight against relegation.
