Yeovil Town Must Assert Themselves Ahead of Crucial Boston United Clash

As Yeovil Town prepare to face Boston United this weekend in the National League, manager Billy Rowley acknowledges the challenging task ahead. “It’s going to be another difficult game, and we’re going to have to impose ourselves and bring what we need to the table,” he said ahead of the trip.

The Glovers currently sit 19th in the table with 11 games remaining, having won just two of their last five matches. Their confidence took a hit after a heavy 3-0 defeat against Scunthorpe United in their last outing. Reflecting on that game, Rowley expressed frustration but also noted moments of promise. “We entered their final third a lot, and we’ve spoken about being cooler and calmer on the edge of the box,” he explained.

Boston United, on the other hand, arrive full of confidence. They’ve lost just one of their last five matches, a narrow 1-0 loss to league leaders Rochdale, and currently sit 12th—three points clear of Yeovil. This familiarity adds an intriguing edge to the match, especially as Rowley’s first game in charge saw Yeovil defeat Boston 2-1, with Luke McCormick scoring twice. “They’ve got energy and attacking players who can cause problems,” Rowley said of the Pilgrims.

In transfer news, striker Tavhon Campbell has moved to Brackley Town on loan for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, loanee Declan Skura has been unexpectedly recalled by his parent club Wycombe, freeing a loan spot that Rowley hopes to fill soon. “I don’t really sleep at night because all we do is look to make the team better,” he admitted. “We want players who will stick around and make a difference.”

There may be new signings arriving sooner than expected, with Rowley hinting some could be in place before the Boston game: “Maybe, maybe not.”

On a brighter note, Ryan Jones is recovering well from a toe injury after having it drained, which should boost Yeovil’s options.

Despite some strides forward, Rowley is realistic about the club’s precarious situation: “Mathematically, no, we’re not safe from relegation yet. Points on the board matter more than games in hand.”

As the Glovers head to Lincolnshire this Saturday, they face a tough battle but will be eager to bounce back from recent disappointment and secure vital points in their fight for survival.
