Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley expressed his frustration following a 2-1 defeat to Boston United, describing the loss as a “killer blow” after his team took an early lead.
The Glovers started strong, with Aaron Jarvis scoring in the 17th minute to give Yeovil the advantage. However, Boston United quickly equalized within six minutes when Jake Rooney headed in from a set piece. After halftime, the momentum shifted as Boston raised the pressure, culminating in a winning goal from former Yeovil loanee Jody Hiwula shortly after entering the game.
Rowley lamented the impact of conceding from set pieces, stating, “They scored from a set piece early on, which was a killer blow for us.” He felt the team struggled to cope with Boston’s increased intensity in the second half, adding, “They defended higher and applied more pressure on the ball, and we didn’t manage that well enough.”

Despite the defeat, Rowley believed his team controlled the match and deserved more from their performance. “We were good with the ball and created more chances in their box than they did in ours,” he said. “After 70 minutes, Boston may have edged it, but overall we deserved more than one goal.”
Jarvis’s early goal was a highlight, with the manager praising the striker’s hunger and fitness. However, Rowley acknowledged issues in the final third, admitting that Yeovil have struggled to convert chances. “We’re creating good opportunities but lack the final decision that could lead to more goals.”
More bad news came with confirmation that Luke McCormick, Yeovil’s top scorer, is out for the season after undergoing groin surgery. “We’ll miss Macca’s running power and goal-scoring ability immensely,” Rowley confirmed.
Looking ahead, Yeovil face a crucial away match against Woking on Tuesday night, where they will aim to climb away from the relegation zone.
