Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley is optimistic as his team prepares for a challenging midweek fixture against Boreham Wood. After a late win on Saturday secured by Terrell Works’ decisive goal against Altrincham, the Glovers look to build momentum heading into this tricky period.
“We’re going to go there in high spirits and try to impose ourselves on them,” Rowley said, emphasizing the team’s determination. Reflecting on Saturday’s win, he acknowledged the game wasn’t perfect but highlighted the importance of grit in tough matches. “It wasn’t a beautiful game, but when teams are aggressive, you’ve got to be good at the other side of the game.”
Boreham Wood, currently sitting sixth in the league, come into the game after three consecutive defeats, including a heavy 4-1 loss to league leaders Rochdale. Despite their recent setbacks, the hosts will recall their emphatic 3-0 victory over Yeovil at Huish Park earlier this season, adding an extra layer of intensity to tonight’s encounter.

Rowley views the busy schedule ahead as a chance for Yeovil to further assert their playing style. “It’s the first time there’s been no rain here in about a month,” he joked. “I’m looking forward to this part of the season. Hopefully, we can imprint our style on games more. It could be a good part of the year for us.”
He also stressed the importance of approaching each game on its own merits. “You’ve got to take each game as it comes. A week in football is a long time. We need to treat every game as an individual challenge and perform on the night.”
The return of Luke McCormick from injury was a significant boost in Saturday’s win. Coming off the bench as a number eight, McCormick’s movement and creativity helped spark the decisive goal. “It’s massive for the group,” Rowley said. “He was through on goal every 10 minutes with incredible timing and contributed directly to the goal, though he probably should have scored himself.”
Rowley also hinted that more players could soon return from injury. “Pagey [Jonathan Page] is a game or two away,” he revealed. “Jarv [Aaron Jarvis] trained with us today, so he might be available.”
Despite some injury troubles, Rowley praised the club’s youth development. Two U-18 players, Jaydon Bliss and Liam Nardiello, have impressed in training, showing great attitude and adaptability. “I’m really proud of the staff for getting those lads up,” he noted. “Their attitude has been first class.”
Looking ahead, Rowley understands the challenges Yeovil face but remains confident in the team’s potential. “I’m really impressed with them and with Luke [Luke Garrard, Boreham Wood manager] this season,” he said. “But as a club, we’ve got to start looking up the table and catching the teams ahead of us.”
