Yeovil Town Falls to Southend in Stoppage-Time, Extending Winless Streak

Southend United secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Yeovil Town thanks to Slavi Spasov’s stoppage-time strike, extending Yeovil’s winless run in the National League to six games.

Spasov, coming off the bench, capitalized on a rebound in the second minute of added time after Andy Dallas’s initial shot was saved by Yeovil goalkeeper Jed Ward. The goal was a fitting end to a contest dominated in the early stages by Southend’s attacking efforts.

Southend created the foremost opportunities in the first half, with Dallas narrowly missing after his low strike brushed the outside of the post in the 14th minute. Ward also thwarted Dallas and Oli Coker, preserving Yeovil’s hopes going into halftime.

The second half saw Southend continue to apply pressure, with Josh Walker’s header smartly saved by Ward. On the attack, Yeovil’s Aaron Jarvis rounded Southend’s keeper Nick Hayes, only for his shot to be blocked by a defender, maintaining the deadlock.

Ultimately, Southend’s persistence paid off at the death, handing Yeovil Town a frustrating defeat and extending their troubling streak without a win in the league.
