Yeovil Town Falls to Gateshead 2-1, Survival Still Uncertain

Gateshead strengthened their bid to avoid relegation from the National League with a 2-1 victory over Yeovil Town at Gateshead International Stadium. The win marks Gateshead’s only defeat in their last eight games and moves them five points clear of the drop zone.

The match remained tight until the second half when Keaton Ward opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 65th minute, after a handball by Yeovil’s Jake Wannell. Ward, who scored in a recent win against title contenders York, continued his fine form.

Just eight minutes later, Mark Beck doubled Gateshead’s lead with a precise header, converting Zak Gilsenan’s cross at the back post. Beck has made a strong comeback, scoring three goals in five matches following a month-long absence.

Yeovil’s challenges deepened as Finn Cousin-Dawson was sent off during stoppage time, yet Kyle Ferguson managed to score a consolation goal for the visitors. Despite the loss, Yeovil remain nine points clear of the relegation zone, but their safety in the league is still not guaranteed.
