Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley described the upcoming National League clash with Southend United as “one of the games that just motivates you so much.” The Glovers head to Roots Hall buoyed by three consecutive wins, most recently edging out Tamworth 3-2 on Monday, and currently hold fourth place with 11 points from their opening five matches.
Southend sit just below them in seventh place with 10 points but have not secured a victory in their last two outings, drawing 1-1 against Woking in their most recent game. Last season, the Shrimpers completed a double over Yeovil by winning both meetings.
Despite the differing recent results, Rowley expects a challenging contest against a Southend side known for their exciting style of play under manager Kieron Dyer.

“I think Southend are a brilliant club,” Rowley said. “Kieron is going to be a great manager. Stylistically, they look really exciting, so it will be a solid test for us.”
Rowley has noted noticeable changes since Dyer’s arrival, emphasising Southend’s more possession-based approach and use of wingers, marking a departure from the challenges Yeovil have faced earlier in the season.
