Yeovil Town’s pursuit of FA Trophy glory came to a heartbreaking end following a penalty shoot-out defeat against National League North rivals Southport.
For much of the match, the Glovers appeared on course for a semi-final spot after James Daly capitalised on a defensive lapse to score his third goal in two games, giving Yeovil the lead.
However, Southport mounted a spirited comeback and pressured Yeovil relentlessly. With just two minutes remaining, Ted Lavelle struck a powerful equaliser, leveling the score at 1-1 and forcing the tie into penalties.

During the shoot-out, Brett McGavin successfully converted Yeovil’s opening penalty, but misses from Aaron Jarvis and Jake Wannell hampered their chances. Despite Jed Ward denying Lavelle’s winning attempt, Southport’s Danny Lloyd ultimately scored the decisive penalty, sealing Yeovil’s exit from the competition.
