Yeovil Town’s journey in the FA Trophy came to an agonizing end after a penalty shoot-out defeat against National League North rivals Southport.
For much of the match, the Glovers appeared on course for the semi-finals. James Daly put Yeovil ahead by capitalizing on a defensive mistake to score his third goal in as many games, giving the visitors a crucial lead.
However, Southport mounted a relentless comeback. In the final moments, with just two minutes remaining, Ted Lavelle struck a powerful equalizer to level the score at 1-1 and push the contest into penalties.

In the shoot-out, Brett McGavin successfully converted Yeovil’s opening penalty, but misses from Aaron Jarvis and Jake Wannell proved costly. Although goalkeeper Jed Ward denied Lavelle a winning penalty and Harvey Greenslade kept Yeovil in contention, Danny Lloyd calmly netted the decisive spot-kick to send Southport through and end Yeovil’s FA Trophy hopes.
