Yeovil Town Confident and Determined Under New Boss Billy Rowley

Billy Rowley is embracing his new role with enthusiasm and confidence, reflecting positively on his first week as Yeovil Town’s manager ahead of their National League clash at Hartlepool this weekend.

“I’ve really enjoyed it,” Rowley said, praising his squad’s commitment and attitude during his initial week of training. “The boys have been superb.”

As Yeovil make the long journey north, Rowley sees it as an opportunity to strengthen his connection with the players. The team aims to build on their recent 2-1 victory over Boston United, which not only marked his first triumph as boss but ended an eight-game winless streak.

“It was amazing,” he said of the win, noting the dedication of the fans: “We were at the ground early, and supporters were already waiting to get programmes signed. It shows how big this club is and how much the fans care.”

Saturday will be Rowley’s first away game in charge against a confident Hartlepool side currently eighth in the table. The Pools are unbeaten in five matches, including a 3-1 win over Truro City.

Despite Yeovil sitting 15th with mixed recent form, Rowley remains optimistic. “I’m confident we can get some wins with this group,” he stated.

The teams first met this season in a goalless draw, but Yeovil face a tough challenge at Victoria Park, where they haven’t won since 2011.

Rowley has a clear vision for the team’s style: “I like winning games, having more possession than the opposition, and controlling key areas and transitions.”

He emphasized the importance of a structured, positional system that brings clarity to players’ roles. “Fans will soon see the players build strong connections in attack and defense.”

Preparing for the game, Rowley has studied Hartlepool’s tactics closely, acknowledging their strengths and the challenges posed by a less-than-ideal pitch. “It’s going to be a real battle for both sides.”

Regarding squad status, most players are available. Josh Sims is doubtful due to Achilles tendinitis, but Alex Whittle has recovered from illness and trained well.

Summing up, Rowley is focused and straightforward: “We’re going there to try and get three points. I’m feeling confident about this group.”
