Essential improvements to Yeovil’s water supply will necessitate overnight closures of a key section of the A37 Ilchester Road in the town centre for one week in early June.
From Monday, 2 June to Friday, 6 June, the stretch of the A37 between the roundabout junction with Mudford Road and Preston Road will be closed to all through traffic each night from 6:30 pm to 6:00 am. This closure allows for the connection of a new fire main to the existing water main serving Yeovil College.
To accommodate road users during these hours, a diversion route will be in place via the A37, A303, A3088, and A30. Daytime traffic will experience normal conditions as the road will reopen fully each morning.

A spokesperson for Wessex Water stated, “This essential work ensures improved fire safety by connecting a new main to the system. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and have informed local residents and businesses in advance.”
