Yeovil Town Braces for Challenging Boxing Day Clash Against Truro City

Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley admits his side must bounce back after a lackluster display saw their winning streak end against National League leaders Forest Green. As the Glovers prepare to face Truro City on Boxing Day, Rowley warned that the fixture in Cornwall won’t be straightforward despite Truro’s position at the bottom of the league.

“We weren’t at our best in the last match,” Rowley acknowledged. “Although the conditions were tough, both teams had to adapt, and we didn’t quite succeed.” Reflecting on the defeat, he emphasized that the team has refocused and refined their style of play. “We’ve clarified our approach and I’m eager to get back out on the pitch.”

Truro may be struggling in the league standings, but Rowley cautions his players against underestimating the hosts. “The league table is harsh on them,” he explained. “They’ve had several tough results that don’t reflect their performances. I fully expect a tough match.”

The Glovers are aware that Truro won their last home game 2-0 against Wealdstone, even though they suffered a heavy loss to York City in their most recent outing. Confident in his squad, Rowley said, “I believe we can secure the win.”

Encouragingly, Yeovil will have key players returning to full fitness. “Josh Sims and Jacob Maddox trained fully today,” Rowley reported. “Jacob has shown promising signs; he’s like a fresh signing despite limited appearances since joining. Sims was bright in our last game and should add spark.”

Looking back at their previous encounter, where Yeovil clinched a 2-0 victory to lift the National League South title, Rowley hopes for a similar performance to end the Christmas period on a positive note.
