Yeovil Town Bolsters Attack with Striker Stephen Walker Signing

Yeovil Town continues to strengthen its squad with the signing of striker Stephen Walker on a two-year deal announced Tuesday.

Walker arrives from Scarborough Athletic, where he was the top scorer last season, netting 18 goals in 39 league appearances. His contributions helped Scarborough secure a play-off spot in the National League North.

Bringing a wealth of experience from both the Football League and non-league tiers, Walker began his career at Middlesbrough, rising through their academy ranks before signing his first professional contract in 2016. He made his senior debut in the 2018 EFL Cup against Notts County, where he assisted a goal and participated in the penalty shootout.

While at Middlesbrough, Walker honed his skills on loan at MK Dons, Crewe Alexandra, and Tranmere Rovers. Notably, he scored his first professional goal for Crewe in 2020, gaining valuable League Two experience. In 2023, after leaving Middlesbrough, Walker transitioned to non-league football, playing for West Auckland Town and Whitby Town, before joining Scarborough Athletic in February 2025.

Internationally, Walker has represented England at the under-17, under-18, and under-19 levels, showcasing notable promise during his youth career.

Expressing his enthusiasm about joining Yeovil Town, Walker said, “I’m absolutely delighted and grateful for the opportunity. When I got the call while on holiday, I was excited to engage with the gaffer and Jamie to understand the club’s ambitions.”

He continued, “I’m eager to be part of an ambitious and competitive project. Moving up a league and relocating will have challenges, but I’m hungrier than ever. This is full-time football now, and I’m ready to give everything to succeed.”

Walker described his playing style as technical and dynamic, saying, “I like running behind defenders and linking up with number 10s and wingers. I want to score goals and contribute to the team’s success.”

Looking ahead, he aims to hit the ground running in pre-season, focusing on goals and assists to help Yeovil Town compete at the top.
