Yeovil Town Begins to Reflect Manager’s Vision Ahead of Tough Brackley Fixture

Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley acknowledges the challenge his team faces as they prepare for their first-ever away match against Brackley this weekend. “We’re going to have to be the best version of ourselves to even get a draw there,” Rowley admitted, recognizing the difficult environment awaiting his squad.

Sitting 15th in the league, Yeovil have earned four points from their last two outings, while Brackley, positioned 18th, enter the game with confidence following consecutive wins. Despite that momentum, Brackley recently suffered an FA Trophy upset at the hands of Rowley’s former club, Walton & Hersham.

Rowley is keenly aware of Brackley’s strengths, especially their defensive solidity on home turf. “They don’t concede many goals and have recently beaten Forest Green there,” he said, underscoring the quality of the opposition. He also noted that pitch conditions and the overall atmosphere will influence their tactical approach. “We know stylistically how we want to play, but the pitch and environment will play a part,” Rowley explained.

Earlier in the season, Yeovil secured a 2-1 victory over Brackley, marking both teams’ only wins under different managers at that time. This history adds an extra layer of motivation for Rowley’s side.

Off the pitch, Yeovil have undergone notable squad changes. Five new players have joined the club, while key departures include Morgan Williams, who transferred to York. “I can’t speak highly enough of Morgan,” Rowley praised, reflecting the player’s impact and connection with fans and teammates. Additionally, loan players James Plant and Andrew Oluwabori have returned to their parent clubs, prompting strategic recruitment to balance the squad.

Rowley has been impressed by the vigor and quality the newcomers have brought to training sessions. “Training over the past week has been the highest level since I’ve been here,” he said. “When you introduce new faces, existing players elevate their game, and the new arrivals want to prove themselves.”

Among the fresh signings are Joy Mukena, a commanding center-back from League Two’s Crawley, described as similar in style to Morgan Williams. Midfielder Troy Perrett, joining on loan from Cardiff City, is highlighted for his goal-scoring instincts and timely runs into the box. The final addition, Terrell Works from Premier League side Fulham, has been dubbed a “magician” by Rowley, who believes fans will enjoy his flair on the pitch.

Reflecting on the recent changes, Rowley views the past month as a “mini pre-season” where he has clarified his tactical preferences. “With these new players, I believe we are starting to shape a team that aligns with my vision,” he said.

While there are still 20 games left in the season, Rowley stays optimistic. He hopes the positive momentum can continue as Yeovil adapts and grows under his guidance.
