Yeovil Town kicked off their season with a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Hartlepool United at Huish Park. Among the spectators was Jeff Stelling, the former Hartlepool president, who witnessed a match that offered few clear chances for either side.
Stelling attended the game despite a recent disagreement with Hartlepool chairman Raj Singh, who controversially requested that the famous TV and radio presenter be banned from away boardrooms. Alongside nearly 200 travelling Hartlepool fans, Stelling watched as both teams battled to secure an opening victory.
The closest chance came from Yeovil’s Alex Reid, whose header narrowly missed the target. Hartlepool’s goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright also made a crucial save, denying a close-range attempt from Finn Cousin-Dawson to keep the game scoreless.
