Yeovil Town has chosen not to participate in the National League Cup for the 2026/27 season, citing the demands of an already congested fixture list. In an official statement, the club emphasized their focus on the National League, along with the FA Cup and FA Trophy, as their primary competitions for the upcoming season.
The statement explained, “With ambitious goals for the year ahead, it is essential to concentrate our playing squad and resources on competitions critical to achieving those targets. We value the efforts of the National League and Premier League in creating this competition and wish all participating teams success.”
Similarly, Forest Green Rovers have informed the National League that they will also be withdrawing from the National League Cup this season. Their statement highlighted operational costs and fixture congestion as significant factors influencing their decision.

“After thorough consideration, we believe focusing on the National League, FA Cup, and FA Trophy aligns best with our season objectives. The substantial operational expenses and the busy schedule were key influences in this choice. We anticipate an exciting season ahead and appreciate the ongoing support from our fans,” Forest Green Rovers said.
Both clubs’ decisions underline the challenges faced in balancing multiple competitions and the importance of strategic resource management in a demanding football calendar.
