Yeovil Town Aims to Thrill Fans and Assert Style Ahead of Forest Green Clash

Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley is eager to energize fans as his team prepares to face Forest Green Rovers at Huish Park in the National League. Riding a two-game winning streak after recent victories against Boston United and Hartlepool United, Yeovil aims to build on its momentum. In contrast, Forest Green arrives unbeaten in seven matches, boasting five wins and two draws, setting the stage for a challenging encounter.

Reflecting on last week’s FA Trophy win over Maidstone via penalties, Rowley saw clear positives but acknowledged room for improvement. “Our buildup play in the defensive and middle thirds showed promise,” he noted, “but we need to find better spaces more consistently and avoid rushing the final pass.”

Rowley believes his squad is nearing a level of consistency, stating, “We’re looking to put the icing on the cake now,” as Yeovil seeks to maintain its good form in league play. A highlight of the FA Trophy victory was the debut goal from Josh Tobin, a player Rowley praises as “a great character” who was always capable of stepping up.

Turning attention to Forest Green, Rowley expressed respect for their quality squad and coaching under Robbie Savage. “They’re a very good team with serious talent,” he said, “and Robbie’s done an excellent job, which is why they’re doing so well.”

Despite Forest Green’s strength, Rowley insists Yeovil won’t play overly cautious football. “We want to be mindful and respectful, but we also want to imprint our style on the game,” he emphasized. “Sometimes being too respectful can be a disadvantage.”

Rowley recognizes the need for solid defending at times but also aims to pressure Forest Green in their own half. On the injury front, he received encouraging news with Josh Sims and James Plant back in full training, while Jacob Maddox is sidelined but expected to return next week. Alex Whittle remains out for this match but is anticipated to resume training soon.

Additionally, Yeovil recently lost Watford loanee Leo Ramirez-Espain, who was unexpectedly recalled by his parent club. Rowley expressed appreciation for Ramirez-Espain, calling him “a great lad” and lamenting the brief time they worked together.

With a strong crowd expected at Huish Park, Rowley and his squad are eagerly anticipating the match. “I’m looking forward to it, and so are the boys,” he said, confident that Yeovil will both excite the fans and make their mark on the game.
