Yeovil Town Aims to Thrill Fans and Assert Style Against Forest Green Rovers

Yeovil Town manager Billy Rowley is confident his team can both excite their supporters and showcase their distinctive style as they prepare to face Forest Green Rovers at Huish Park in the National League.

Currently riding a two-game winning streak following victories over Boston and Hartlepool United, Yeovil is eager to maintain their momentum. Their upcoming opponents, Forest Green, come into the match on an impressive seven-game unbeaten run, including five wins and two draws, setting up a formidable challenge for the Glovers.

Reflecting on Yeovil’s recent penalty shootout win against Maidstone in the FA Trophy, Rowley noted encouraging signs but acknowledged areas for improvement. “Some of our buildup play in the defensive and middle third was decent,” he commented. “We’re working on entering better attacking positions more frequently, as we tended to rush our final pass.”

Despite this, Rowley senses his team is nearing consistency. “We’re just trying to put the icing on the cake now,” he said, hopeful for continued positive results in the league.

Highlighting individual performances, Rowley praised Josh Tobin, who scored on his debut during the FA Trophy match. “That sums him up; he’s a great character,” Rowley said. “I never doubted he could rise to this level.”

Looking ahead to Forest Green, Rowley holds the visitors in high regard: “They have a very talented squad. Robbie Savage has done a fantastic job; their position in the table reflects that.”

Yet Rowley insists Yeovil will not play conservatively. “We want to be respectful but also imprint our style on the game,” he said. “Too much respect can hold you back against teams like these.”

He also acknowledged the balance needed between solid defense and attacking threat: “We’ll need to defend well at times, but we’re also aiming to disrupt their play in their half.”

In positive squad news, Josh Sims and James Plant have returned to full training, while Jacob Maddox is expected back next week. The only absence will be Alex Whittle, who missed training but should rejoin the full squad soon.

Rowley also addressed the surprise recall of Watford loanee Leo Ramirez-Espain, describing him as “a great lad” and expressing his regret at losing the player.

With enthusiasm building and a strong home crowd anticipated, Rowley is optimistic: “I’m expecting it to be a great crowd. I’m looking forward to it, so are the boys.”
