Texas Rocks, a popular American steakhouse located on Middle Street in Yeovil, will remain closed for several months after a fire broke out in its kitchen on the first floor. The incident occurred late Tuesday night, June 10, at approximately 11:50 pm, prompting a swift response from local firefighters.
Despite the fire being controlled within minutes, significant damage was reported to both the kitchen and the upstairs seating area. In a heartfelt message on social media, Texas Rocks expressed their disappointment: “It is with a heavy heart that we will be closed for a good few months. We have had a pretty devastating fire upstairs and sadly the kitchen and upstairs seating area has not come out on top.”
The restaurant also extended their gratitude to the fire service for their rapid and effective response. “A huge thank you to the fire service who had everything under control in a matter of minutes. We really appreciate everyone’s kind words and support as this has not only affected our wonderful customers but also our brilliant team.”

Staff will be reaching out to customers with existing bookings, including those for Father’s Day, to provide updates on the situation.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue reported that the fire originated accidentally in the first-floor kitchen. Two individuals self-evacuated the building safely, and fortunately, no injuries were sustained. The fire response involved four fire crews utilizing breathing apparatus, hose reel jets, a safety jet, and thermal imaging cameras to extinguish the blaze efficiently.
A spokesperson from the fire service confirmed: “We attended Texas Rocks at 11.50pm on Tuesday, June 10, following a fire in the first-floor kitchen. Two people had self-evacuated with no injuries reported. Four fire crews attended and used breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a safety jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. The cause was accidental.”
Although the temporary closure will impact both staff and patrons, Texas Rocks remains determined to rebuild and reopen, continuing to serve the Yeovil community in the near future.
