Yeovil Man Charged with Attempted Murder Following Firearm Discharge

James McGuinness, a 30-year-old resident of Yeovil, is set to appear in court on Monday following charges linked to a firearm incident earlier this month. He faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 1 October, around 12:45 pm at the Lufton Trading Estate, where police responded to reports of a firearm being discharged. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Since the incident, police have increased patrols in the area to ensure public safety. McGuinness remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 6 October.

In connection with the investigation, a woman in her 20s was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She has since been released on bail while inquiries continue.
