Yeovil High Street Halifax Branch to Close in January 2026

Residents of Yeovil will soon experience the impact of another local bank closure, as Halifax has announced it will shut its Yeovil branch on January 12, 2026. This closure is part of a broader national trend where customers increasingly prefer managing their finances digitally.

By the end of 2025, Halifax plans to have permanently closed over 100 branches across the UK, with an additional 14 closures slated for 2026. Lloyds Banking Group, which owns Halifax, will also be closing 40 more branches next year.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group commented, “The way people are banking has changed, with over 21 million customers choosing apps to manage their money. We’re providing more choice than ever before, combining digital convenience with personal support.”

Despite the branch closures, customers will still have access to banking services at any Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland locations, as well as through the Post Office, local banking hubs, and over 30,000 PayPoint outlets for cash deposits.

To assist customers affected by branch closures, Lloyds Banking Group is introducing Community Bankers—dedicated staff members available in local community venues and banking hubs to provide face-to-face support. Information on locating the nearest Community Banker can be found on the Halifax and Lloyds websites.
