The upcoming Yeovil Christmas Festival is set to be an eight-day extravaganza, taking place at the Yeovil Showground on Two Towers Lane from December 15 to 22. This eagerly anticipated event will feature a range of attractions including a Santa’s grotto, ice rink, live music, a fairground, Christmas shopping village, and UV minigolf.
Following concerns raised by local residents and the police, an application by Limitless55 Productions Ltd. for a new license to stage the festival was subject to a public hearing. The Avon and Somerset Constabulary withdrew its formal objection shortly before the hearing, facilitating the Somerset Council’s decision to grant permission for the event to proceed as planned.
The festival, also known as the Yeovil Christmas Extravaganza, will welcome the public from 10am to 7pm daily, with extended hours until 11pm on Friday and Saturday. Anticipating up to 3,000 attendees, licensee Mathew Dyhouse assured measures would be in place for crowd control.

Addressing concerns about noise levels, event co-ordinator Jordan Frost emphasized the implementation of stringent monitoring, including noise readings near residential areas and a dedicated hotline for residents to report concerns during the event. Additionally, music will be contained within a tented structure, positioned away from adjacent properties, with fireworks set to conclude by 8pm on December 16.
The festival will not accommodate public camping, although a limited number of fairground workers and stage crew will be present on-site for the duration of the event. The licensing sub-committee approved the license for this year’s festival, with conditions agreed upon by the applicant and the police.
The granted license is specific to this year’s event, requiring Mr. Dyhouse to reapply in 2024 should a similar event be proposed. Those interested in attending can secure their tickets at www.yeovilfestivals.com.
