Worle Village Primary School, located on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare, is celebrating following the release of an outstanding Ofsted report. The primary school has been described as a “close and caring community” where pupils thrive academically and enjoy a variety of enriching activities.
Ofsted inspectors highlighted the lively atmosphere of the school, noting how it “buzzes with life”. They praised the school for its friendly environment where staff understand pupils as individuals. According to the report, pupils engage enthusiastically in activities such as football, playing musical instruments, and demonstrating teamwork during dance routines for the local Worle’s Got Talent event. They also enjoy socialising and taking part in competitions, including running races and practising handstands by the historic Victorian walls.
A key strength identified was the school’s strong curriculum, which brings learning to life through immersive experiences. Pupils have participated in themed workshops such as Roman Day and World War II evacuation days, helping them gain a deeper understanding by stepping into the lives of those they study.

Pupils at Worle Village Primary consistently perform well in national tests, often surpassing the national average, including among disadvantaged groups. Attendance rates are similarly impressive. The report emphasised the positive culture established by school leaders that fosters a clear sense of belonging, motivating pupils to attend regularly.
“Leaders prioritise high attendance and monitor it regularly and with precision,” the report states. “They understand the barriers pupils face and take steps to support families, resulting in significant improvements for individual learners.”
Inspectors were also impressed by the wide range of extracurricular activities offered. These include theatre and camping trips, kayaking, climbing, and visits to art galleries, providing pupils with diverse opportunities to learn beyond the classroom.
The school encourages pupils to consider their future aspirations. Events like the ‘Future Me’ careers fair inspire pupils by helping them understand potential career pathways and giving meaning to their learning.
In its assessment, Ofsted uses multiple categories rather than a single judgement. Worle Village Primary excelled by meeting the ‘strong standard’ in six out of seven categories, including achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing. The school met the expected standard in early years provision.
