Woman Rescued After Early Morning Car Crash in Somerset

A woman was rescued after becoming trapped in her car following a crash in Somerset early Sunday morning.

Avon and Somerset Police responded to a single-vehicle accident at 3:40am on January 18, near Southfields roundabout on the A303 in South Petherton.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene alongside police. Firefighters from Yeovil and Ilminster stations used specialized road traffic collision equipment, small tools, and lighting to safely extract the woman from the passenger seat.

Thankfully, the woman sustained only minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue commented, “Our crews assisted the female casualty trapped in the vehicle and ensured the car was made safe before leaving the scene.”

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the details of the incident and reiterated that the woman’s injuries were minor.
