Woman Injured in Christmas Day Dog Attack in Bridgwater

On Christmas Day in Bridgwater, a woman in her late 60s was seriously injured after being attacked by two dogs that broke free from their lead while she was walking her own dog. The incident occurred between 5:15 pm and 5:30 pm near the junction of Coleridge Green and Coleridge Road.

The attacking dogs, believed to be Cane Corso-type, lunged at the woman and her dog. The woman’s dog sustained a puncture wound, and the woman herself fell during the attack, resulting in a dislocated and fractured right wrist. She was promptly taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

The two dogs had been under the control of a man, described as tall and thin, wearing a parka-style coat with a fur-lined hood, before they reportedly broke free. A young woman with mousey blonde hair managed to retrieve the dogs, and both individuals left the scene through Victoria Park.
