Woman Injured After Being Struck with Mop in Glastonbury Altercation

A woman sustained injuries after being struck with a mop during a fight on Glastonbury High Street in Somerset. The altercation, involving three individuals, occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17.

According to police reports, the mop—or possibly a broom—was used as a weapon during the confrontation. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a woman in her 30s bleeding from her hand after being hit by the broken handle of the mop.

Police officers provided initial treatment at the location before paramedics arrived. Fortunately, the woman declined hospital treatment.

In response to the incident, Avon and Somerset Police have increased patrols throughout the Mendip area to deter further crime and antisocial behavior. Glastonbury Neighbourhood Sergeant Simon Lancey encouraged community engagement: “We’re here, we’re listening, and we’re taking action. If you see our officers out and about, come say hello and let us know if there’s anything concerning you.”
