A woman is currently in critical but stable condition after falling into the River Parrett in Bridgwater on Saturday, February 14. Emergency responders, including the National Police Air Service (NPAS) and the air ambulance, were dispatched promptly after the incident was reported around 2:40 pm.
The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service successfully rescued the woman from the water near Western Way by 2:55 pm. During the rescue operation, nearby roads were closed for just over an hour to ensure safety and quick access for emergency teams.
Following her rescue, the woman was airlifted by the air ambulance to a hospital where she remains under close medical care. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that her next of kin have been informed. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
