Woman in Critical Condition After Falling Into River Parrett

A woman is currently in critical but stable condition at hospital after falling into the River Parrett in Bridgwater on Saturday, February 14. The incident occurred around 2:40 pm, prompting an immediate response from all three emergency services, including the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, ambulance crews, police, and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.

Firefighters rescued the woman from the water near Western Way at approximately 2:55 pm. Due to the severity of her condition, she was airlifted to a nearby hospital for urgent care.

The nearby roads were closed for just over an hour as emergency personnel conducted the rescue and secured the area. An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson confirmed that the woman’s next of kin have been informed.
