A tragic accident in Burnham-on-Sea has claimed the life of a woman in her 70s. Emergency services responded to the collision between a pedestrian and a car on Berrow Road at 7:19 pm on Thursday, January 22. Despite swift medical attention, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that formal identification is pending, but her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.
The driver of the vehicle involved was unharmed. Berrow Road was temporarily closed for several hours to allow police to carry out a thorough investigation and has since reopened.
