Woman Assaulted and Shopfront Damaged in Frome Town Centre Incident

This morning at approximately 9:30 am, a woman was assaulted and a shop window was smashed using a metal pole in Frome’s King Street. Police received a call at 9:31 am reporting the assault and the subsequent damage to the property.

Officers quickly arrived on the scene and arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of affray, assault by beating, possession of an offensive weapon, and criminal damage. He remains in police custody pending further investigation.

Avon and Somerset Police have urged anyone with information related to the incident to come forward by contacting them on 101. The case reference is 5225233004.

A police spokesperson stated: “We responded promptly to reports of a woman being assaulted and a shop window being damaged with a metal bar. The man taken into custody is cooperating with our inquiries.”
