Avon and Somerset Police are investigating a serious sexual assault that occurred in Wellington early this morning. At approximately 2:20 a.m. on May 22, a woman was reportedly punched and raped by an unidentified man in the North Street area.
Police quickly secured the scene with cordon tape, while Crime Scene Investigators conducted a thorough examination. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged to continue her recovery at home.
According to the victim, the attacker is described as a slim male, approximately 35 to 40 years old, possibly of mixed heritage. He has black hair and a tattoo on his arm. At the time of the incident, he was wearing jeans and a white T-shirt with black writing. Witnesses and CCTV footage suggest he fled the area in a white Volkswagen Golf.

Authorities are appealing to anyone with information, particularly those who may have CCTV footage capturing a white Volkswagen Golf between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on locations including Waterloo Road, North Street, High Street, Fore Street, and Taunton Road in Wellington, to come forward.
