Budding filmmakers across the UK have an exciting opportunity to receive funding for their creative endeavors. The FilmBath Festival is hosting the IMDb Awards, where UK filmmakers can submit one-to-ten-page screenplays for a chance to win £7,000 towards producing their film, as well as £1000’s worth of hired equipment. Additionally, the New Filmmaker Award offers £2,000 towards producing the best one-to-ten minute film, accompanied by the same equipment support.

Festival Director Jasmine Barker emphasized the importance of innovation and thoughtfulness in the submissions, highlighting the potential for film to broaden perspectives and cultivate empathy. A prestigious panel of judges, including industry experts such as The Crown director Philippa Lowthorpe and Trainspotting screenwriter John Hodge, will select the winners, who will be celebrated at an exclusive awards ceremony.

Jasmine Barker, a Bath Spa University graduate, recognizes the festival’s capacity to harness the city’s potential as a prominent player in the film industry. She envisions Bath as an area with its own distinct appeal, separate from the nearby hubs of London and Bristol.

The IMDb awards are accepting late submissions until July 1, providing filmmakers with the chance to realize their aspirations. The FilmBath Festival, scheduled between October 18 and 27, promises to be a captivating showcase of talent and creativity within the filmmaking community.
