Wiltshire Council Election Results 2025: Conservatives Lose Control

The recent Wiltshire Council elections have resulted in no single party securing an overall majority. Since its establishment in 2009, the unitary authority had been under the control of the Conservative Party. However, in a notable turn of events, the Liberal Democrats have now surpassed the Conservatives to become the leading party, securing 43 seats compared to the Tories' 37. Additionally, Reform UK obtained 10 seats, with seven independents also elected, and only one Labour candidate.

With the Liberal Democrats poised to take the initiative in forming an administration in the upcoming days, there has been a clear shift in the council’s leadership. Richard Clewer, the re-elected Tory leader of the council, expressed his frustration at the loss of control and highlighted the need for Wiltshire to address significant questions in the days ahead.
