A widower in Somerset has been left devastated after thieves broke into his home and stole jewellery belonging to his late wife, including her distinctive wedding ring.
The burglary took place at a house in High Littleton between 5 pm and 7:15 pm on Tuesday, January 13. Upon returning, the man in his 70s discovered that the intruders had forced entry and taken several precious items.
Among the stolen jewellery was a unique wide-band wedding ring etched with an engraved geometric design, alongside an engagement ring, cufflinks, shirt studs, a tie pin, and gold chains, all deeply treasured family heirlooms.

Avon and Somerset Police are actively investigating the incident and appealing to the public for information. They are particularly urging local pawn shops, jewellers, and anyone who may have been offered such items for sale to come forward.
A police spokesperson emphasized the emotional impact of such crimes: “Burglary is always distressing, but the loss of irreplaceable items with sentimental value is especially painful.”
