A heartfelt loss has been compounded by crime for a widower in High Littleton, Somerset, following a burglary that resulted in the theft of jewellery belonging to his late wife, including her distinctive wedding ring.
The break-in occurred between 5pm and 7:15pm on Tuesday, January 13. The homeowner, a man in his seventies, returned to find his home forcibly entered and several cherished items stolen.
Among the jewellery taken was a unique wide-band wedding ring featuring an engraved geometric design, symbolizing a deeply personal connection. Alongside it, thieves stole an engagement ring, cufflinks, shirt studs, a tie pin, and gold chains — cherished tokens of a lost love.

Avon and Somerset Police have launched an ongoing investigation and are appealing to the public for assistance. They urge jewelers, pawn shops, and anyone who may have been offered these items for sale to come forward.
A police spokesperson emphasized the emotional impact of such crimes: “Burglary is always distressing, especially when items of irreplaceable sentimental value are taken. We are committed to recovering these precious belongings and supporting the victim through this difficult time.”
