Widow of late Bridgwater cricket player to tackle London marathon

Jessica Vickery, the widow of a beloved Bridgwater cricket player who tragically passed away in 2021, is all set to take on the London Marathon in support of the charity Meningitis Now. Her late husband, Josh Vickery, was a cherished long-serving member and coach of the Bridgwater Cricket Club.

Josh succumbed to meningitis following complications from an ear infection at the age of 40. Jessica, alongside running partner Tom Wickens, has already gathered close to £2,000 in donations. In their joint statement, they expressed their commitment to running the marathon in 2025 as a tribute to Josh and to raise vital funds for Meningitis Now.

Following Josh’s untimely demise, the Bridgwater Cricket Club offered a heartfelt tribute, honoring his contributions as a player, committee member, and coach for the under-11s team. Describing him as an exceptional batsman and a remarkable fielder, they affectionately remembered Josh’s popularity among club members and his immense impact on the cricket community. They also acknowledged his role as a loving son, husband, father, and an extraordinary friend and teammate, emphasizing the irreplaceable void left by his absence.
