Recent research by Thatchers Cider reveals that two-thirds of people find a walk more appealing if it ends at a pub, with over half willing to add up to an hour to their route to enjoy a pint afterward. Some enthusiasts would even extend their walk by more than two hours to finish at a great pub.
When choosing a walking route, good scenery and countryside settings top the list, with most people favoring walks between 3-5 kilometers for a relaxed experience. These insights have inspired Thatchers to launch ‘Pint Sized Walks’ in collaboration with OS Maps by Ordnance Survey (OS), offering a curated collection of scenic circular routes across the UK that all conclude at welcoming pubs.
The routes cover a range of picturesque environments, including coastal areas, countryside retreats, and national parks, stretching from Devon and Cornwall to Pembrokeshire, Hampshire, Cumbria, Fife, and beyond. Each walk is available in the OS Maps app and highlights pubs serving Thatchers Cider.

Martin Thatcher, cider maker at Thatchers Cider, said, “There’s something wonderfully simple about finishing a good walk in a pub, blending outdoor enjoyment with the chance to relax and connect with friends and family. Our research shows that the promise of a great pub encourages us to go that extra mile.”
Nick Giles, Managing Director for Leisure at OS, added, “Millions use OS Maps to discover new walks and outdoor spots. Our data highlights a growing appetite for shorter, manageable routes that fit into everyday life, especially those with a warm, inviting place to stop and socialise. Pint Sized Walks perfectly meets this demand by linking the outdoors to cherished local communities.”
Available now in the OS Maps app, the ‘Pint Sized Walks’ collection offers walkers a refreshing way to enjoy nature and good company, with routes situated in charming locations such as St Ives (Cornwall), Bath (Somerset), St Davids (Pembrokeshire), Ambleside (Cumbria), Linwood (Hampshire), Grassington (North Yorkshire), Elie (Fife), Winchcombe (Gloucestershire), Farncombe (Surrey), and Sandford (Dorset).
