Wetherspoons has revealed the opening date for its newest pub in Bath. Located in the former Revolution nightclub at York Buildings, The Old Post Office will welcome its first customers on Tuesday, March 3.
This marks Wetherspoons' second venue in Bath and is part of a broader expansion with 12 new pubs scheduled to open across the UK and Spain by July. The new site’s name pays tribute to the building’s rich history, which dates back to the 1700s.
The structure was originally designed by renowned architect John Wood the Younger, famed for his work on The Royal Crescent, cementing the building’s place in Bath’s architectural legacy.

Despite the expansion, Wetherspoons founder and chairman Steve Martin has acknowledged challenges ahead. In an interview with The Mirror, Martin revealed that rising costs—specifically energy, wages, repairs, and business rates—increased expenses by £45 million in just the first 25 weeks of the year. As a result, profits for the current financial half-year are expected to be lower than in the previous period, and overall annual results may dip slightly below the 2024-25 figures if current sales trends persist.
Wetherspoons had also requested permission from Bath and North East Somerset Council to open the new pub as early as 7am. The application argued that since the venue had operated into the early hours previously without complaints, starting at 7am would not negatively impact nearby residents. However, permission was denied, and The Old Post Office will open daily at 8am, operating seven days a week from 8am to midnight.
