Weston-Super-Mare’s Housing Development Embraces Time Capsule Tradition

In Weston-Super-Mare, a new housing development is preparing for the future by having local children bury a time capsule. The capsule, assembled by students at Parklands Educate Together Primary School, will be unearthed in the year 2074, offering a glimpse into the lives of today’s youth for future generations.

Filled with letters to their future selves, recent newspapers, and homework, the time capsule serves as a connection to the future. The burial ceremony was attended by the head teacher of Parklands Educate Together, alongside representatives from Curo, the housing association behind the new Locking Parklands development. This event symbolizes a partnership between the local organizations, with Curo recently donating £1000 to the school’s drama department, furthering their commitment to the community.

The time capsule is a symbol of Curo’s long-term investment in the development and the surrounding community. Lisa Howells from Curo expressed the organization’s dedication to supporting the area’s growth and prosperity, emphasizing their commitment to managing affordable housing on-site for the long term. This collaborative effort highlights the positive impact of the development on the local community.
