The inaugural Summer Fest at the Beach in Weston-super-Mare faced significant setbacks last weekend (June 6-7) due to inclement weather and communication issues, but organisers have pledged a return with improvements.
Heavy rain and strong winds disrupted performances on Saturday, forcing the closure of one area over safety concerns. While many attendees recognized that weather conditions were beyond the organisers' control, numerous ticket-holders expressed frustration over a lack of clear communication. Some were reportedly turned away at the entrance, while others felt confined within the VIP zone.
Responding to these concerns, the festival’s organisers emphasized that all decisions made during the event prioritized public safety amid rapidly changing conditions. In a detailed statement posted on Facebook, they reflected on the challenges and thanked everyone involved—from ticket buyers and performers to volunteers and staff—for their support.

The organisers highlighted their mission over the past 16 months: to revitalise Weston-super-Mare’s cultural scene by hosting a memorable event that the community could take pride in. They celebrated the thousands of attendees who came together to enjoy music and create lasting memories, despite acknowledging the weekend was far from perfect.
“We’ve received a great deal of positive feedback as well as constructive criticism,” the statement read. “As a first-year festival, we’re proud of many accomplishments, but we know there are areas for improvement. We’ve spent the last few days listening closely to feedback, consulting with our suppliers, and reviewing all aspects to make necessary changes.”
Looking ahead, the organisers assured the public that Summer Fest at the Beach will return and plans are already underway to make the event “bigger and better” in the coming years. They expressed sincere gratitude to all supporters and reiterated their commitment to safety and quality as the festival grows.
This determination to learn and evolve promises a brighter future for Summer Fest at the Beach, aiming to firmly establish Weston-super-Mare on the festival map.
